wilshire|one came online in November of 2004. It was and continues to be my first attempt at a personal weblog. The site will be chock full of my riveting thoughts on web development, web standards, Textpattern, technology in general and the occasional miscallaneous topic. The site is broken down into the following sections.

About Rob

After growing up in Beachwood, Ohio, I attended The George Washington University in Washington D.C. where I received a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Information Systems. After several years of consulting work in the DC area I’ve settled back close to home in Copley, Ohio (this is one of the most atrocious sites you’ll find on the internet today). I was married last year and my wife Joci and I moved into our first house on Wilshire Drive, hence the inspiration for wilshire|one.

Over the past few years I’ve taken a great interest in learning more about web standards and the intricacies of standards compliant web design. I put these learnings to practice through my work as Robert Sable Consulting.

When I detach myself from the keyboard to relax you’ll likely find me sipping on a nice cold beer (pale ale if I can help it) while chasing the dog around, working on some sort of home improvement project or watching sports. As painful as it can be, I’m a big Cleveland sports fan including the Browns, Indians and Cavaliers as well as an OSU Buckeye fan. I love to travel and Joci and I hope to reach all 50 states at some point in our lives. We’re barely into double digits so far so we’ve got some work to do.

wilshire|one was constructed with a goal of adhering to web standards. Therefore, at some point, all of the pages used valid XHTML and CSS. If you see a problem, feel free to let me know.

Content Management

The content and presentation for wilshire|one is managed using Textpattern, a “flexible, elegant, easy-to-use content management system.” I am using version 4.0.4 at the moment.

The icons used on the site are from Christopher Ware’s ExplodingBoy Pixel Icons.
