Leafy Inspiration
Between the recently completed CSS Reboot and links I follow from the Textpattern Forum I’ve been browsing quite a few new sites lately. Within less than an hour this evening I ran across all of the following sites. I’m not sure what to make of it except that its clear that Mr. Hicks continues to be an inspiration for many.
And of course, the original…

Hm, well it seems like leefy goodness (and rounded corners) are “in” now-a-days.
Don’t get me wrong though, I love it. Just begin to wonder when it will become old, faded and cliché.
Who knows…? Not I, for sure.

No doubt everything on the web (and everywhere else) will go in and then out of style. And then when its back in style its retro.
What will never be out of style it seems is anything Hicks. From the leaf to the vertical nav to the opposing rounded and squared corners….but no doubt, not a bad source of inspiration.

The point is that webdesigners had recently so much technical stuff to learn, css xhtml a bit php and some cms…that when it comes into packing the whole stuff in a design and being creative, a long and hard process as well, they just get influenced by the designs they keep in mind…And that is where Hicks rocks…Beside having designed a 50 million downloaded browser icon, his site is ( seems ) so simple, somehow different, that it will stay like a sticker in peoples minds and on the wall of fame of webdesign.

Rob, thanks for the referrals.
I’m up at http://pixelpatterns.net now.
I liked your previous design better than this green one. I enjoy your Textpattern related articles, keep it up ;o)
